The Development Environment (Part 1)

In this lesson, we talk about web servers, database servers, and PHP, and how and why they are necessary for WordPress to run. I then cover three different packages so that regardless of your operating system, you have something on which to work:

  1. Wamp Server
  2. XAMPP
  3. MAMP/MAMP Pro

We'll then walk through the process of configuring the web server, the database server, and PHP so that we can install WordPress and prepare our development environment.
