In this part of the series, we'll build the Tassimo's secondary water tank. Rather than modeling this from scratch, we'll re-purpose our already created outer water tank, and reshape it to fit our needs. You'll learn how to modify existing topology, copy and re-use polygons and create holes in various shapes. We'll also construct the system's water intake valve and adjust mesh proportionsRead More…

In this section of the tutorial we'll tackle the outer water tank, one of the most challenging parts of the Tassimo machine. Again this will require us to carefully construct the basemesh to ensure correct smoothing when subdivision is added. We'll also look at how modifiers can be stacked to simplify the modeling process, how to change topology to work in our favor and some simple edge termination techniques.Read More…

In the sixth part of the T-65 series, we'll finally start work on the back portion of the machine and tackle the water tank's base, this is one of the more challenging parts of the model and will require us to carefully construct the basemesh in preparation for subdivision. With the tank base complete, we move onto create the remaining details on the back panel, and finish things off by adding thickness and supporting geometry.Read More…

Advanced Poly Modeling - Tassimo T-65 Home Brewing Station: Part 5Max tassimo nretina
In the fifth part of the Tassimo T-65 series, we'll begin work on the cup stand portion of the machine and create the inner and outer cylindrical pieces, as well as the grating detail. From there it's onto the front panel sections, were we'll make the necessary holes for the LED screen and power button, and then finish the panels off by adding supporting edges in preparation for subdivision. Finally we'll wrap things up on the front, by creating the brew cycle indicator and power switch.Read More…

As a Cg artist you no doubt have a huge interest in video games and video game art, it might even be the reason you chose to get into computer graphics. If so, you'll definitely want to check out this excellent article on our sister site Gamedevtuts+. Almost every major game released these days is made in 3D or uses a heavy amount of 3D assets. While there are still many games made in 2D, even platforms like Flash are now integrating 3D. In this bumper-length article I am going to explore what separates games from other mediums that use 3D art, and cover some of the important topics to consider when making 3D art for games.Read More…

In part 3 of the series, we’ll continue to refine the overall shape of the main components and do additional mesh cleanup to finalize some of the elements. This includes removing unneeded edges, edge termination techniques and adding supporting geometry to ensure correct smoothing. In the later stages of part 3, we'll also construct one of the Tassimo's most difficult pieces. This section focuses on seamlessly connecting one cylindrical mesh to another and some ways this can be achieved using a combination of cutting, snapping and welding.Read More…
