Ben Tate
Ben has over a decade of experience in the computer graphics field and although he's primarily a hard surface modeler, he's also experienced in the fields of UVMapping, Texturing, Lighting and Rendering. Ben has authored over sixty hours of real-time tutorial content for Tuts+, focusing mainly on 3d Studio Max and hard surface modeling. Along side 3D Studio Max, Ben's has experience with VRay, FumeFX, ZBrush, Mudbox, Mari, PTex, Photoshop, xNormal, UVLayout, Forest Pack Pro and After Effects.     In this new tutorial series focused on product modeling and rendering, we'll create the Tassimo T-65 Home Brewing Station from Bosch. Starting in 3d Studio Max we'll use a few simple blueprint images to do a block-out of the base, and then begin the process of breaking down and refining the model using more advanced poly modeling techniques to create the final High-res asset. Later lessons will include UVMapping, Texturing, creating V-Ray materials and finally building a suitable studio lighting rig and rendering out the model with V-Ray.Read More…

    In the fourth part of the iPhone series we'll begin creating textures and the many shaders needed for our model. While most will be procedural materials, a few of the elements do require image based textures, so we'll first tackle the uvmapping on these elements. We'll then move on and construct a studio lighting rig using V-Ray lights and introduce image based lighting to the scene. Along the way we'll rely heavily on the power of V-Ray's RT engine to fine tune our materials, lighting and render settings to balance the scene and achieve the look we're after for our final render.Read More…
